Losing Mikey is so hard.

My precious Mikey had spinal surgery for a ruptured disc in August.  He was progressing, but suffered a reinjury.  After weeks of pain and no progress, we made the difficult decision to have him put down on Saturday.  He was such a sweet little guy that I found abandoned in the street 4 years ago.  He stole my heart with his adorable personality and natural mohawk.

I keep second guessing my decision even though I know it ended his pain and suffering.  He was only six and this is the first time in my life (and I am a grandmother) that I have not had a dog around.  Mikey went to work with me everyday and was the such a bright spot in each and every day.  I know many of you have been through this too, but I seem to really be struggling with this loss.  My other dogs have lived long lives and this loss at such a young age just breaks my heart.

All I can say is thanks for "listening".  I know with time this will get better, but it sure hurts now.

Mikeysmom: I'm very sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is very hard and painful because a pet is a loved member of the family. With time it will get easier but it takes time, so let time do its job. Mourning is a process with ups and downs. With time the pain becomes more manageable and try to be with people who understand your grief. We are here for you.

Every blessing
Ada
